The Medicine Hat & District Genealogical Society offers query and research services to the public, including obituary lookup services.
We’re happy to work on any query pertaining to the Medicine Hat and district, and all queries are handled on a first come first served basis.
Take advantage of our extensive resources and the incredible knowledge of our researchers to illuminate your past and unlock your family history!
How to submit a query
We handle all queries as quickly as possible, but please be aware that queries take time because we have a limited number of volunteer researchers in our membership. Please allow 2-4 weeks for your request to be answered.
When submitting a request, please ensure your name, address, and e-mail is enclosed on all queries. Local equerries are encouraged to visit our library and conduct their own research with the resources available.

- Various databases including, Ancestry, MyHeritage, Family Search, Newspapers.com,
- Newspaper Archives and Find A Grave
Cost & Payment
A minimum charge of $50.00 is required before starting a research request. This payment covers time for basic research at our library, and other available resources. Additional charges may be required for further research. Individuals will be contacted if additional research and payments are required.
We do not guarantee we will be able to locate the information that you seek. Some ancestors can not be found.
